New in North Harrow shops

* planning application P/0496/12 at 71 - 73 Station Road (was Hinton & Bloxham estate agents, under the railway bridges) for change of use from estate agents to minicab office is still under consideration

*  the Binsina cosmetic laser centre on Broadway Parade  (opposite the Post Office) is now open for business

* there is a banner advertising "Hevalo" a "local bazaar"  at 63 Station Road (close to North Harrow underground station and still known to many as "The Model Shop") with a bakery,  butcher, newsagents and off-licence.
We understand from Harrow Council that "the Council's Planning officers and Food, Health and Safety Officers have been to visit the premises and are currently taking up some issues with the operators; from these visits we are aware that the operators wish to operate part of the premises as a supermarket but at this point no application has been made for a licence to sell alcohol."

* planning application P/0297/12 at 55 Station Road (was George White Florists) for change of use to estate agents has been recommended to grant subject to conditions restricting actual use.

* three new community notice boards (with money from the Mayor of London's Outer London Fund) have been put up near North Harrow Underground station, by the old Lloyds Bank building at the Station Road/Pinner Road junction and near Tesco Express on Pinner Road

* "Twist", the dessert lounge/ice-cream bar at 374 Pinner Road (was John's Grocer's near the Post Office) is now open!

* plans for a milkshake bar at 537 Pinner Road (was New Image Car Hi-Fi) seem to be going forward again.

* "Kool Cakes" opened at 547 Pinner Road (near VB & Sons) in 2011

* the card shop “Love and Best Wishes” in Broadway Parade moved to the larger premises of 22 The Broadwalk (was Variety Video) and is now called "Greetings 'n' More"

* Asha charity shop opened in Broadway Parade in October 2011 in what used to be the TLC Pet shop or even earlier, as long-term residents will remember, Cooper's Hardware store

* "Mr Chilly" a new Indian restaurant/café has opened on the site of Cinque Stelle café near
Station Road/Pinner Road crossroads
