The Association has been in existence for over 70 years. It was known as The Headstone Ratepayers' Association and as times changed became The Headstone Residents' Association. Residents living in the Headstone Wards, north and south, may become members of this organisation. The Association has a recently updated constitution that is available on request.

Our activities include:

· representing the collective interests of local residents at various Council Meetings, including Planning, Transport, Licensing etc.

· attending meetings of various interest groups, such as the steering group for the Harrow Public Transport Users' Association, Harrow & District Pedestrians' Association, Harrow Police & Community Consultative Group and The Harrow Heritage Trust

· monitoring local planning applications and making representations

· affiliated membership of other organisations including Harrow Association of Voluntary Service and The London Green Belt Council

Along with neighbouring residents’ associations, we have campaigned:

. to maintain Pinner Park Farm as an open space

· for the bringing forward to North Harrow of Harrow Council’s “Clean & Green” programme of improved maintenance of public areas

· for one hour’s free parking in North Harrow (sadly now under threat from Harrow Council)

· to retain ticket offices at North Harrow station and along the Metropolitan Line

· to modify the original designs for the Safeway/Gilbert Square site (and we continue to press for the promised supermarket)

The Association is about to revive the quarterly newsletter "The Bulletin" for its members. Keep an eye on our Current Affairs section on this website.

Up until now, contact with our Membership has been mainly through the newsletter and the network of Street Representatives, who are vital to the functioning of our organisation.
